Teenstreet
We were invited to help out in the one of the worship session for Teenstreet. You may wonder what is Teenstreet all about. Well, it's sort of like a holiday camp for the teens but it's a Christian camp. It's run by OM. Anyways, as I was saying, we were asked to help out. And I was appointed as the worship leader. It was a struggle for me at first to agree to take up that role. It's because I've not done anything like this for a long time with the youth. It was more of not knowing what to sing. I relented at first but finally I'd said 'yes' to them, after much thoughts and prayer. Gave alot of thoughts to the songs and finally had insights into which songs to sing. I remembered that when God commits you to a task, it's because He knows you're the best person to do that task. If you decline, He can always replace you with someone else. But then the impact will not be as the same as originally planned by Him. It took alot of faith for me to have made that decision.
We had only a couple of practices prior to the event itself. We'd travelled all the way down to Mantin, where Teenstreet was held, on a Sunday afternoon after our Christmas practice. I was abit tired and jittery, after a whole day in church and didn't know what to expect from the crowd. I must really thank God for He had seen us thru all the way and thank God for the team of musicians and singers, for without them, I do not know what to do. To cut the long story short, the youth were ministered by the songs sung, even though it was for only 15 minutes. They were a great bunch of youth, very responsive. I wished we had really spend time with the youth, to get to know them. It was difficult for all of us to get leave from work, if not we would have stayed with them throughout the whole entire camp. Hmmmm... maybe, there'll be an opportunity for us to do so. It'll be great to encourage them. See lives get touched and changed. They're our future leaders of our country. I'll try to post some pictures here, if I can got hold of some. If you want to know more about what happen in Teenstreet, you may check out Valerie's blog.
