Down South for Boxing Day
Yvonne and I headed down south to Singapore on early Boxing Day morning. It was not an excuse to go shopping there but rather it was to visit a grand aunt of mine. My godma had pestering us to go back because it had been three years since I've been back. So it was a great opportunity to also take a break from everything. The weather was bad when we were back there, it was raining day and night, night and day, non-stop. But that did not deter us from going out. Yvonne made me promised that we'll go out and not stay home and I kept to promise.
The journey down was pretty smooth. We took a coach down. When we hit Melaka, it was raining all the way. On the highway, you could see plantations been flooded with so much water and rivers bursting their banks. We reached Singapore in good timing. That afternoon itself, we went visiting my grand aunt. Had a good time chatting with her. For an eighty plus year old dame, she could still crack jokes and she's still strong. But the only sad thing is that she suffering from fourth stage cancer. Will deeply miss her when she "goes".
Came evening time, my god sis and her husband took us to a very nice sea food restaurant in Geylang just somewhere behind the red light district. We had so much crustaceans to eat. They are famous for their mee goreng. And the dinner was superb. The name of the restaurant was "No Sign Board". Very smart of them to think of that name. Apparently they have franchise outlets all over Singapore.
After the dinner, we headed down to Clarke Quay. They've change so much. We were there at the right time. Clarke Quay was repositioning itself as a One Stop Food and Dine and Drink location. The were promoting the place itself that week. And all the restaurants and clubs came out in full force to promote their joints. There were lots of free food and drinks flowing that night. And a live Spanish band all the way from the US performing. The atmosphere was energetic despite the downpour, the street was covered. I think over ate and drank for that night. The theme was Mardi Gras.

The night didn't stop for us. We headed over to the Fullerton Hotel that. What the hotel is today was used to be the old general post office. It's really nice and has a certain epitome to it. Mind you, it's a six-star hotel. It's famous for their chocolates. No, we didn't get any for ourselves because everything sold inside is expensive.

Singapore still has horses and cows running around, here's the proof.

The following day, we got up abit late after a long journey and late night, not forgetting the feasting. It's the very day we were looking forward to. It was Tony Romas's pork ribs that made us looked forward to that day. The thought of it now makes me hungry. Soon after that we went on the Ducktour. We actually wanted to go on the Hippo tour but we didn't wanted to take the risk because the tour is on an open top double decker bus. We opted for the Ducktours instead. You'll ride in this covered amphibious Vietnam war craft. It takes you from Suntec City into the Kallang River and then on road again to sight see landmarks. It's a very informative tour and fun too.
